Amazon to cut down on packaging

Amazon has taken initiative in taking the necessary steps in producing a cleaner environment, starting with its packaging. Amazon promises to help remove the annoyances that customers have with their over packaging, by cutting down the molded foam, wire ties, and clamshell plastics. The company spoke about the frustrated feedback from consumers about the clamshell packaging. The company said they would focus on reducing the amount of plastic-coated hard wire ties, and "clamshell" packaging that the company produces

The online giant wants to cut costs in areas of shipping this holiday season to help push market shares, and improve overall customer satisfaction. This greener move by Amazon, is surely to help increase profit during the holiday season where more consumers turn to the Internet for Christmas shopping needs.

This greener campaign of Amazon couldn't come at a better time, during the weaken US economy. Amazon reported $4.06 Billion, up 41% in the second quarter of 2008, with 31% of sales in Media, and 58% in Electronics and other merchandise. The true test will come at the end of this month when consumers do most of their shopping online.
