AMD brings its game-changing 3D V-cache for the first time to office and workstation PCs

AMD has announced its new Ryzen PRO 9000 workstation CPUs using Zen 5, 3D V-Cache, and more.

AMD earlier today announced the expansion of its Ryzen PRO 9000 Series processor lineup with new workstation-focused desktop processors aimed at commercial and enterprise users. The company added that the new portfolio, like for the consumer series, is built on its “Zen 5” architecture, and is designed to deliver higher compute performance, enterprise-grade reliability for professional workloads, and more.

The lineup includes SKUs ranging from six to 16 cores with power envelopes spanning 65 watts to 170 watts, allowing deployment options across compact desktops to larger workstation towers. AMD highlighted use cases including 4K and 8K video editing, CAD and digital twin workloads, software compilation, scientific analysis, and local AI inference, among others.

Along with that, AMD has also introduced select Ryzen PRO 9000 Series models featuring AMD 3D V-Cache technology for the first time in the commercial desktop segment. For anyone not familiar, the 3D V-cache technology, originally devised for improving gaming performance, significantly increases cache capacity by vertically stacking additional LLC (last level cache) memory onto the processor die itself, enabling faster data access on demand. Recently, X3D chips have shown lots of potential in new kinds of workloads aside from just gaming.

The Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D has 128MB of it across its two CCDs while the Ryzen 7 PRO 9755X3D has 96MB. The full lineup and specs are given in the table below:

The company added that the chips support up to 256 GB of ECC DDR5 memory along with PCIe 5.0 interface connectivity. AMD said the Ryzen PRO 9000 Series is built on the AM5 platform to provide long-term infrastructure stability and upgrade flexibility for enterprise customers. The new CPUs, as expected, also integrate AMD PRO Technologies. In terms of availability, systems powered by Ryzen PRO 9000 Series processors are expected to begin rolling out in the 2H (second half) of 2026, with Lenovo’s ThinkStation P4 workstation scheduled for availability in Q3 of the year.
