AMD's Thorton can't be far away

IT APPEARS as if the mongrel chip AMD codenames Thorton is not that far away from release. Details of the chip, which is a hybrid Thoroughbred- Barton, and which AMD has persistently told the INQ "doesn't exist", were published in a road map earlier this week.

But confirmation of the wee timorous Thorton beastie also comes from another source, this time the README.TXT associated with an Epox BIOS update for the 8RDA+ mobo. Among the enhancements and fixes for this BIOS release it adds support for autodetect of the Thorton CPU. So it's got to be soon. Deniability is such an important thing in this industry.
