Anthropic boosts Claude for enterprise with Microsoft 365 integration

For any enterprise product or service to become popular worldwide, Microsoft 365 integration is a critical factor. Today, Anthropic’s Claude announced Microsoft 365 integration, allowing users to bring context from their documents, emails, and calendar directly into their Claude conversations.

To start using this integration, users must first connect Claude with Microsoft 365 using the MCP connector. For now, Claude will work with the following Microsoft 365 services:

• Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive: Search and analyze documents across sites and libraries, from project specifications to strategic plans, without manually uploading files to Claude.
• Microsoft Outlook: Access email threads, analyze communications patterns, and extract insights from your correspondences to understand project status, client feedback, or team alignment.
• Microsoft Teams: Search through chat conversations, channel discussions, and meeting summaries to surface decisions, track project updates, and understand what your team has been discussing.

Anthropic today also announced a new way for enterprise users to find company information through a shared project named after their organization. This project comes with ready-made prompts that help Claude search across their company’s tools and includes easy steps to connect their main work apps.

When users ask Claude a question, it can look through all your connected company data in one place, giving answers based on their organization’s shared knowledge. For example, users can ask about their company’s remote work policy and get a complete answer based on HR files in SharePoint, emails in Outlook, and team guidelines from different sources.

The new Microsoft 365 MCP connector is available now for all Claude Team and Enterprise plan customers. For Claude Enterprise customers, their respective administrators must first enable the connector before individual users can start using this integration. The new Enterprise search feature is also enabled for all Team and Enterprise organizations. Again, respective admin teams should customize the project and curate data sources before individual users can use it.

Back in June, OpenAI announced that ChatGPT's ability to connect to more external services to pull in real-time context and provide more useful responses for users.
