Apple is set to hold an event on September 15, the company confirmed today. As you'd expect in the age of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be held virtually.
Obviously, the Cupertino firm is expected to unveil its range of next-generation iPhones. The event itself is about a week later than it normally would be, and the handsets are expected to ship in October. Given that the event hasn't been delayed by much, early October seems likely. Apple is expected to show off four iPhones this time around: the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Max, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Also likely is the Apple Watch Series 6, which is traditionally announced alongside new iPhones. It's possible that battery life will be a focus with the Series 6, given that a key feature in watchOS 7 is set to be sleep tracking.
What else will be announced is anyone's guess. A new and more capable Apple TV could be announced, given that the current Apple TV 4K has an older chipset in it. We could also end up seeing the first Apple silicon Macs, or in the accessories department, it could be time for new AirPods.
We'll find out on September 15. As usual, the event will be streamed for everyone, beginning at 10am PT.
Update: Apparently Apple is not planning to announce new iPhones at this event, and it will be focused on Apple Watch and iPad.
