Apple has kicked off its first series of hardware announcements of 2026 with the iPhone 17e, its newest entry-level iPhone that takes over the iPhone 16e from 2025. The new model retains its $599 price tag, but adds a newer processor, MagSafe, more storage, a new color, and other meaningful improvements.
The iPhone 17e will be available in three colors: black, white, and soft pink. It is powered by Apple's latest A19 processor paired with the C1X cellular modem, which, according to Apple, is two times faster than the C1 in the iPhone 16e. There is also two times the storage, with the base model now offering 256GB instead of 128GB.

Camera-wise, the iPhone 17e retains its single-camera system. It has a 48MP Fusion camera with 4K Dolby Vision support, "next-generation portraits," and what Apple calls "an optical-quality 2x Telephoto," which is basically digital zoom.
The device's design remains unchanged as well. It is the same 6.1-inch smartphone with an OLED display covered with Ceramic Shield 2 glass, which features better scratch resistance and reduced glare.
The original iPhone 16e has been heavily criticized for the lag of MagSafe, and with the iPhone 17e, Apple is finally addressing that by bringing its accessory system to the most affordable iPhone. Besides fast charging support, the iPhone 17e supports Qi2 15W wireless charging, and it is compatible with the MagSafe chargers and other accessories.

Apple's VP of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing said the following about the new iPhone 17e:
"We know our customers want a product that will last, and iPhone 17e delivers just that. With A19 for incredible performance, double the entry storage, a smarter camera system, and enhanced durability, iPhone 17e is designed to stay fast, secure, and valuable for years to come."
The iPhone 17e will be available in three colors with two storage options: 256GB and 512GB. The starting price is the same at $599.99. Preorders will be open on March 4, and general availability is scheduled for March 11 in 70 countries across the world.
