Apple will give free AirPods to students when they buy a MacBook Air or iPad

Apple is throwing in free AirPods when students and educators buy a MacBook Air or iPad during this year's back-to-school discounts. There is an option to upgrade to AirPods Pro for an extra $90.

Each year, Apple brings its back-to-school promotions for students starting the new academic year. Although it cannot be foreseen what the next academic year will look like, this hasn't stopped the Cupertino firm from discounting its gear in the U.S. It is offering free AirPods (with wired charging) to students and educators on the purchase of the MacBook Air or iPad Air.

Apple is incentivizing this deal by giving users the option to upgrade to the AirPods with the wireless charging for an additional $40, or if they'd rather upgrade to AirPods Pro, those can be purchased for an extra $90. This deal also applies to the purchase of MacBook Pro, iMac, iMac Pro, and iPad Pro. These deals vary every year, and this year's deal is especially good if you're looking to buy a new Mac or iPad for the forthcoming semester.

Other back-to-school deals include discounted pricing on Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard, which may be used quite often in an educational setting. Whosoever purchases an Apple device will be entitled to free Apple TV+ for one year and three free months of Apple Music.

A recently published report suggested that Apple might substantially discount the AirPods during this holiday season, with the firm being expected to ship at least 80 million AirPods Pro units this year.
