Asus dual Athlon board out and about!

Asus is beginning to get distributors and retailers supplies of their new dual Athlon board, A7M266-D, which sports a pretty high spec, supporting, it says, Athlon XPs as well as Duron MPs - even though the future of the latter remains uncertain.

And unlike many of the other dual Athlon boards around, this one supports both non-registered and registered memory.

AMD only wants the dual boards to support registered memory because of the more critical nature of the server market, but sources at Asus say that this board is aimed at the enthusiast as well as the serious marketplace.

Other features include, 6-Channel Audio (via a C-Media 8738 audio controller), Extreme Overclocking (Jumperfree; everything adjustable from the CPU Core Voltage to memory voltage, FSB/PCI/MEM ratio and CPU frequency multiplier), and uses a Standard ATX Form-factor and Power Supply, eliminating the need of upgrading to a costlier higher-power or server power supply.
