BearShare 2.5.0

Thanks Loz for the heads up.

Changes:

  • Swarmed transfers from multiple sources
  • Auto detect
  • Firewall settings
  • Auto detect IP address
  • Faster Connection to the Network
Finally, after a very long testing time, FreePeers releases the version 2.5.0 of BearShare. A lot of BearShare and Gnutella enthusiasts have tested up to 15 pre-releases, including alphas and betas, giving an incredible feedback through the BearShare.net community forum.

This new release of the prize-winning Gnutella client is a real milestone: it supports the swarming download, which is the download of the same shared file from multiple concurrent sources. This feature is included also in other clients, but the BearShare implementation is the more reliable, because the files shared are "hashed" - a hash is a numeric code that should be unique for a file - so you can't get corrupted swarmed downloads.

BearShare 2.5.0 includes also a lot of other enhancements: it's more efficient, less resource wasting, connects faster to the network, and includes self firewall and IP detection.
