Call of Duty calling on mapmakers

Activision competition will dole out prizes to the top fan-created levels for its best-selling WWII shooter.

Today, Activision kicked off its Call of Duty Mapmaker Competition, which will award the best fan-made levels for its best-selling WWII shooter. Through March 26, aspiring mapmakers can download the level-editing toolset and can submit levels on the

official Call of Duty Web site. Entries will be judged by a panel of developers from Infinity Ward, the Activision-owned studio that created Call of Duty. Additionally, all nonfinalist entrants will be able to have their maps judged online in a "Vote for the Best of the Rest" contest on The deadline for registration is March 20.
