Dell XPS 15 (9500) unboxing and first impressions: This thing is sweet

When Dell announced its new XPS 15 back in May, it promised the laptop's first redesign in five years, and it sure delivered. Following the redesign of the XPS 13 earlier this year, the Dell chopped down the bottom bezel so it feels like there are no borders at all, also adding a larger 16:10 display in order to keep a similar footprint.

The new screen is just awesome. It feels not only spacious, but beautiful and immersive. That's not the only thing that got changed though. The new trackpad is massive, making use of the real estate provided. There are speakers on either side of the keyboard as well.

The selection of ports has changed as well though. Gone are any traces of USB Type-A or HDMI. What you get now are two Thunderbolt 3 ports and one USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C. This is no surprise though, since the XPS 15 2-in-1 from 2018 had already ditched the legacy ports, and I was always told that the reason it didn't happen on the clamshell yet was simply because the machine wasn't redesigned yet. I always knew that whenever Dell got around to redesigning it, this would be happening.

For sure, this redesigned XPS 15 makes a great laptop even better. Check out the unboxing video below:
