Dust 514 will be free to download and play for PS3

We've recieved the first bit of news regarding the PS3 exclusive MMOFPS Dust 514 and it will make any gamer ecstatic. The game itself will be free, but in-game credit bundles will be sold at a cost.

We at Neowin are in a great mood and it’s not because it’s Sunday but more because we have learnt that Dust 514, the exclusive PS3 MMOFPS which will exist within Eve Online, will now be free to download and free to play. The game was originally going to be priced at $10 to $20 but that has now been scrapped.

Extra costs include the in-game credit system called “Aurum credits”. The prices for credit bundles range from $10 to $100. You'll also be able to earn and use ISK credits, as in Eve Online. However, these can't be used at the Dust 514 store.

"There is no micro-transaction that you can do that gives you an unfair advantage over someone who hasn't paid anything," Brandon Laurino, executive producer for Dust 514, told Eurogamer.

This is the first bit of news we've heard of Dust 514 since E3. We still haven’t even heard of a specific release date but if you're curious and fancy waiting around for a new MMOFPS then this might be right up your alley.

We’ll most likely learn more at GDC so until then, we’ll keep you posted!
