We are now on the seventh mystery giveaway day on the Epic Games Store. Today, the PC games store unveiled Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night as its latest freebie, continuing the streak of offering well-received indie games. PC gamers can grab the newest drop and keep it forever if they claim it before the next freebie appears tomorrow, December 24.
Developed by ArtPlay and released in 2019, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night comes in for classic Metroidvania fans. The title offers an exploration-heavy side-scroller experience that follows Miriam as she battles through a demon-infested castle to find and defeat its master.
The massive interconnected map opens up with shortcuts and portals as players explore it, while new abilities like double jumps and swimming also open up areas previously inaccessible. The studio also touts a "metric ton of weapons and spells" that each offer customizations, a crafting system for creating equipment, and satisfying combat.
"Addictingly tight and satisfying gameplay alongside a rich new story in the gothic dark fantasy style of Koji Igarashi, the celebrated godfather of 'Igavania' games," adds the developer. "Story cut scenes and NPC interactions fully voice acted by a star-studded cast, including actors like David Hayter, Ray Chase and Erica Lindbeck to name just a few."
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is free to claim on the Epic Games Store for the next 24 hours. Since this is a special promotion, nobody outside of Epic Games knows yet what will be available next time. The upcoming mystery freebie will reveal itself and unlock for all PC gamers at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, December 24.
So far, the store's offer has given away Hogwarts Legacy, Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel, Eternights, Blood West, Sorry We're Closed, and Paradise Killer to keep for PC gamers. The promotion is set to run until December 31 with a fresh giveaway every day.
