Ethereal 0.9.13 has been released

Ethereal is a free network protocol analyzer for Unix and Windows. It allows you to examine data from a live network or from a capture file on disk. You can interactively browse the capture data, viewing summary and detail information for each packet. Ethereal has several powerful features, including a rich display filter language and the ability to view the reconstructed stream of a TCP session.

This release fixes a large number of security issues discovered by Timo Sirainen and others. See the application advisory for more details.

    New and updated features
  • Ethereal now supports a system-wide color filter file.

  • Support for the GNU ADNS library has been added. ADNS allows asynchronous DNS lookups.

  • "Decode As..." functionality has been added to Tethereal via the "-d" flag.

  • The HTTP, FTP, POP, SMTP, IMAP, and ACAP requests and responses are now shown in the protocol tree.

    New protocols

  • distcc, EtherNet/IP, MSRPC ATSVC, RTNET/TMDA
