Five million copies of Payday 2 are free to claim on Steam

Overkill Software announced their plans to launch a Payday 2: Ultimate Edition last month, arriving with every piece of DLC ever launched for the game in a single package for $45. To achieve this, the developer has now removed all of the game's DLC from Steam, with all future updates to the PC version arriving free of charge.

To celebrate the Ultimate Edition's imminent arrival, the developer announced that it is giving away five million copies of Payday 2 on Steam, starting from today. A new update video by the studio, seen below, gave an overview of the giveaway and the new edition, as well as going on to say that more content for the console versions is already under development.

Keep in mind that the upcoming Payday 2 VR mode will also be free of charge to all owners of the base game, giving a great opportunity to grab the game right now for VR users looking forward to the mode. An added benefit is that VR players will be able to go on heists alongside regular keyboard and mouse users, effectively giving access to the entire player base.

The game is now freely available to claim on Steam until either five million copies are claimed, or an unspecified time period is reached, so be sure to grab it quickly.
