Games with Gold: Gears 5, Resident Evil, and Indiana Jones Emperor's Tomb are now free

As expected for Games with Gold bonus freebies, the first wave of games is here a little early, providing Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members the announced initial February titles already. This month is a rather special one, as Microsoft is offering three games from the start, with one of them being a first party exclusive. Gears 5, Resident Evil (remaster), and Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb are the latest arrivals to the program.

Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One owners can get Gears 5 and Resident Evil from the selection. Meanwhile, Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb is available to Xbox 360 players, and through backward compatibility, to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One owners as well.

Use a Gold activated account to claim the three games directly through the store links listed below:

Gears 5 (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One)

With all-out war descending, Kait Diaz breaks away to uncover her connection to the enemy and discovers the true danger to Sera – herself. New campaign features let you take your character and weapon skins into new playthroughs and enjoy bonus difficulties and modifiers.

Xbox Series X|S Optimized: Gears 5 has been upgraded to take advantage of Xbox Series X and S, including: reduced load times, instant resume, 120 FPS in Versus and variable refresh rates. Plus experience 4K HDR Ultra visuals on Series X.

Resident Evil (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One)

In 1998 a special forces team is sent to investigate some bizarre murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. Upon arriving they are attacked by a pack of blood-thirsty dogs and are forced to take cover in a nearby mansion. But the scent of death hangs heavy in the air. Supplies are scarce as they struggle to stay alive.

Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb (Xbox 360, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One)

Indy returns for a heart-stopping new adventure in Indiana Jones® and the Emperor's Tomb™! It's 1930s China, and Indiana Jones has been hired to recover one of the most powerful artifacts know to man before it falls into hostile hands. Join Indy in an epic, globe-spanning race that pits him against the Nazis and the Asian underworld in a harrowing quest for the mysterious "Heart of the Dragon".

Keep in mind that although these are replacing some of the earlier Gold games from January, Dead Rising is still available to Xbox One and Series X|S owners until February 15.

The usual Gold rules apply to these three games. Xbox 360 titles claimed via one of these promotions will continue being playable even if the monthly subscription is discontinued. However, claimed Xbox One games are only playable while the account has Gold activated.

There were some rumblings regarding an Xbox Live Gold price adjustment last week, effectively doubling the subscription's cost, but Microsoft decided to revert the pricing hike soon after the announcement due to the community backlash. The company will soon be removing the Gold requirement for playing free-to-play multiplayer games as well.
