Microsoft and Epic Games have finally set in stone the release date for what could turn out to be the year’s biggest seller, Gears of War 3. The Xbox 360 exclusive will be released on September 20 worldwide and marks the end of the Gears of War trilogy of titles.
The previous two titles in the series have sold millions of copies around the world and become a huge hit with online gamers thanks to some excellent multiplayer modes. The good news is that the third game will offer up a new multiplayer game called “Beast Mode” where gamers can take up the role of the locust horde.
Gears of War 3 will also contain five-on-five multiplayer games and a four-player campaign co-op mode. There will also be a number of new maps included for the multiplayer side including one called Trenches which has a sand storm taking place all around you to lessen visibility.
New weapons will also launch in the game with: The Bayonet Charge, The Retro Lancer, The Sawed-off Shotgun, The Incendiary Grenade, The Digger launcher and the big addition of “The OneShoot” a new heavy sniper rifle that can even penetrate shields and cover for that perfect one shot kill.
The press release we received from Microsoft also stated that news of the official multiplayer public beta would be coming soon.
