Google Home for iOS updated with Nest Cam highlights on its feed and more

Google has updated its Home app for iOS with new features that display a few important activities on its Feed tab. The Google Home app will highlight Nest Cam events on its feed and display an improved Lights quick action.

The search giant revealed last year that Home app users would be able to watch full video clips or listen to audio clips in the Feed tab. The latest update appears to be enabling that capability. Another important part of this update is the ability to turn lights on and off from the Lights quick action. The shortcuts for those options are now displayed at the top of the main tab.

On the Apple App Store, the updated Home app's version number is bumped up to 2.19.115, with the following release notes:

Over the next two weeks we’ll be rolling out the following features:

  • Improved support for quickly turning your lights on and off from the Lights quick action.
  • The Feed tab highlights important activity from supported devices for you and other home members. Now you can see Nest Cam events in the Home feed.

These updates will be rolled out server-side to the Home app (via 9to5Google). The news outlet also notes that these changes may be part of Google's preparation for the launch of Nest Aware in early 2020, introducing "event-based recording" to Nest cameras.
