Google updates Stitch with 'vibe design' and infinite AI canvas

Google has announced a new update to its AI design tool Stitch, bringing a redesigned user interface and several other features.

Google announced it's pushing some big updates to its AI-powered UI design tool Stitch. While it can already create UI designs from text prompts, Google said the new Stitch update introduces "vibe design," which lets you start your design process with abstract concepts and emotions rather than a wireframe.

Stitch was introduced back in May 2025 at the Google I/O conference and still remains an experimental app under Google Labs. The new update brings a completely redesigned interface with a new AI-native infinite canvas "that gives your ideas room to grow from early ideations to working prototypes." You can work on different forms of context, such as images, text, or code.

In addition to typing, you can use voice commands to talk to the canvas, which is powered by Gemini Live. Google said that its AI can interview you to design new pages, give real-time design critiques, and make live updates based on what you say, such as "give me three different menu options," or "show me this screen in different color palettes."

There is a new design agent that can analyze and reason across the entire project's lifecycle. Meanwhile, a new Agent Manager can track progress and help stay organized while working on multiple ideas in parallel. You can assign specific tasks across the canvas and collaborate on complex design issues.

Google said that the updated Stitch can now extract a design system from any URL. You can also use the new DESIGN.md agent-friendly markdown file to sync with common tools and export/import your design rules to or from other design and coding tools. This way, you can also apply your designs to a different Stitch project without starting from scratch.

Stitch also converts static designs into interactive prototypes. You can click on the "Play" button to preview the app flow, and Stitch can automatically generate the next logical screens based on the click to map out the user journey.

Apart from these, Google said you can use the Stitch MCP server and SDK to connect AI tools (such as Cursor, Antigravity, or Gemini CLI) to your projects and leverage Stitch's capabilities through skills and tools.
