Huawei sub-brand Honor today announced a global launch event for the Honor 9A, which will take place on June 23. The relatively low-end smartphone is currently only available in Russia, where it costs 10,990₽, which is roughly equivalent to $157.49.
Naturally, the spec list matches that price, so there's nothing exactly mind-blowing about it. It's powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset, with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, though there's microSD card support if you need more. The battery, however, is a massive 5,000mAh unit, which should last quite a while on a relatively low-power device like this.
There are three cameras on the back of the phone, starting with a 13MP primary camera. This is aided by a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP depth sensor for portrait effects. The selfie camera is housed in a notch in the middle of the display, and it's 8MP. That display is a 6.3-inch IPS panel with an 88.4% screen-to-body ratio. The resolution for that is also relatively low, at 1600x720, making for a 20:9 aspect ratio. There's no fingerprint reader under the display, but there is one on the back of the phone.
Aside from a global launch of the Honor 9A, the company also says its announcing new ecosystem products, which usually means accessories or smart home devices, at the event. You can catch it on YouTube here, on June 23 at 2PM CET.
