HP announced the Envy Wood Series today, and yes, they're laptops that are made out of wood. The idea is to continue the trend that HP started with the Spectre Folio by using materials that aren't typically found in PCs. There are 13- and 17-inch clamshell models, and 13- and 15-inch convertibles.

There are three different wood color combinations: Nightfall Black with Natural Walnut, Ceramic White with White Birch, or Natural Silver with Pale Birch, although not all of them are available on all models. They include features like Amazon Alexa, Modern Standby, Wake on Voice, Wake on Fingerprint reader, and they have HP's Sure View privacy display.

The new Envy Wood PCs are offered with Intel's upcoming 10th-generation 'Ice Lake' processors, or AMD's second-generation Ryzen chips. The Enxy x360 15 will have an option between the two, while the Envy 13 is Intel-only, the x360 13 is AMD-only, and the Envy 17 is Intel-only.

Unfortunately, these beautiful PCs won't be in your hands until this fall. This is actually when Intel plans to launch its Ice Lake processors, so the timeframe makes sense. Naturally, we'll here more about pricing then too.
