Huawei MateBook D with AMD Ryzen unboxing and first impressions

Back in June, Huawei announced a refreshed model of its mid-range MateBook D. The PC comes complete with AMD's Ryzen 5 2500U processor, which is a quad-core simultaneous multithreaded (SMT) CPU that comes with Radeon Vega 8 Graphics.

Alongside of that, the clamshell has a 14-inch 1080p touchscreen, 8GB RAM, and a 256GB SSD, along with other goodies like USB Type-C, HDMI, and USB Type-C ports. There are speakers on the left and right sides of the keyboard that are tuned for Dolby Atmos, similar to Huawei's higher-end MateBook X lineup.

It weighs in at 3.5 pounds, and it's just 0.62 inches thin, which is just a bit thicker than a Wear OS smartwatch. Perhaps the best part though, is that it only costs $629, and you can buy one at your local Walmart. Indeed, that's a great price given the hardware that's provided.

Huawei finally sent over a review unit of the new PC, and we just took our first look. Check out the unboxing video below:
