Hurricane Katrina Rips Through the Gulf

Over 80% of New Orleans is submerged and water has reached 12 feet in some places. Mayor Ray Nagin has proclaimed hundreds, if not thousands, of people may still be stuck on roofs and in attics, and so rescue boats were bypassing the dead. The city has no power, no drinking water, dwindling food supplies, widespread looting, smoke rising on the horizon and the sounds of gunfire. At least one large building was ablaze this Tuesday.

In Mississippi the damage is far greater. Gov. Haley Barbour said there were reports of up to 80 dead in the Biloxi area, but U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said the state's unofficial estimates were "probably way too low."

With hundreds, possibly thousands dead, it's your time to help!
