NetherRealm Studios' first foray into the DC universe happened in 2013 with the release of Injustice: Gods Among Us, and now, it has joined a new freebie promotion from the publisher WB Games. For an entire week, the Ultimate Edition of the title is free to claim on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and - via backward compatibility - Xbox One.
The 2.5D fighting title features quite a few playable characters from the DC multiverse, including members of the Justice League, iconic villains like Joker, Lex Luthor, and Doomsday, as well as various alternate versions of these characters. Since the giveaway is for the Ultimate Edition, DLC fighters are included as well.
In addition to the multiplayer, there is a full story campaign in the title, which is set in one of the many multiverses of DC comics. In this universe, Superman has gone rogue after a traumatic event and has become the ultimate ruler of the world. The Batman summons heroes from another universe to bolster the insurgency and stop Superman's reign.

As previously mentioned, the Xbox 360 version is playable on Xbox One via backward compatibility, since the game never arrived for the more modern Microsoft console. The giveaway slated to end on June 25.
