Instagram unveils new way to see recommended content, initially focusing on wellness

Instagram announced today a new destination on its platform where you can find recommended content from creators you follow. The Guides tool will initially surface images and videos especially focused on wellness; as the Facebook-owned service recognizes the people's need for this type of content in the time of coronavirus.

Guides will appear on a new separate tab on a creator’s profile, featuring a collection of various Instagram photos and videos sourced from expert individuals and organizations. These will be accompanied by tips and advice. The posts may also come from the user's own profile. When you tap on a specific Guide, you will be redirected to the original post. You can also share it to your Story or send it to someone through Direct Message. Instagram plans to make Guides accessible via the Explore tab in the coming days.

Some of the initial Guides come from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Heads Together, a group focused on mental health, among others. Instagram says resources from these creators can help people look after their well-being, keep connection with others, or manage anxiety or grief, and more.
