Laptop Abuse

As most everyone knows, laptop computers are now outselling desktops and a lot of people will soon learn just how durable (insert sarcasm) they are. If you drop your laptop like I do to my cell phone, the chances of the $1600 super thin laptop lasting are slim to none. But, thanks to Panasonic's Toughbook 29 and the Itronix GoBook III we might have a chance to drop our laptop, for some odd reason, and know that it's going to be ok. Or just for the people who bring their laptops to construction sites and actually use their laptops outside of the house. Forbes' Arik Hesseldahl took a good look at these laptops and came to the conclusion that they lived up to the promise. All of this toughness cost a pretty penny which is equal to weight. Expect to pay around $4,000 USD and weigh around 8 pounds (4kg). If you have trashed a smaller laptop before, this might be worth it for you, and the 8 pounds will be a nice little workout for you.
