Lenovo's new Yoga 9 laptops have Intel Tiger Lake, Xe Graphics, and Thunderbolt 4

Today, Lenovo announced its latest flagship laptops. The Yoga 9i and Yoga Slim 9i are the successors to the Yoga C940 and Yoga S940, and they aim to impress with next-generation hardware. The Slim 9i clamshell only comes in a 14-inch size, while the 9i convertible comes in 14- and 15.6-inch flavors.

The 14-inch variants comes with Intel's new 11th-generation 'Tiger Lake' processors, meaning that they also have the company's new Xe Graphics. As for the 15.6-inch Yoga 9i, that's still 10th-gen, and for good reason. Lenovo is once again using a 45W processor, which isn't going to be announced this week for the 11th generation of Intel chips.

Being that the smaller ones have the newer silicon, they also have Thunderbolt 4 ports, which is Intel's next-gen Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt 4 isn't all that different from the "full" Thunderbolt 3 ports that we have today, so there's no reason that Lenovo can't match the technology with the Thunderbolt 3 ports in the Yoga 9i 15-inch.

All of these premium laptops offer Dolby Vision screens and Dolby Atmos audio. In fact, Lenovo is keeping around its rotating soundbar in the convertible series, for premium audio and intense volume.

Also, interestingly, the 14-inch models come in leather. If you're interested in unique materials on laptops, look no further than this one. It's a black leather cover that's bonded to the aluminum chassis.

The Yoga 9i convertible is expected to arrive in October, starting at $1,399 for the metal 14-inch model, $1,699 for the leather 14-inch model, and $1,799 for the 15-inch model. The Yoga 9i Slim, or IdeaPad 9i Slim in the U.S., is slated to arrive in November, starting at $1,599.
