Logitech announces new Harmony Express voice remote with Alexa onboard

Logitech announced today its new universal voice remote, the Harmony Express, with Amazon's Alexa digital assistant onboard. The device allows you to control both your smart and traditional home theater devices, open your favorite channels or launch apps with your voice coupled with a built-in hub and an infrared mini-blaster.

The remote has a dedicated Alexa button that you can press to request tasks you want to be completed like switching on your home entertainment devices, playing a movie on Netflix, or checking the news, among others. The Harmony Express works with several cable and satellite TV providers and media streaming services and Logitech claims it is compatible with more than 250,000 devices.

Pete Thompson, Vice President of the Alexa Voice Service, said:

“We’re thrilled to see Logitech simplifying the home theater experience by bringing the convenience of Alexa to its Harmony Express remote. With Alexa built-in, you can easily search and navigate content, control smart devices, access thousands of skills and more – all you need is your voice.”

The device also comes with an eponymous remote finder app for Android and iOS so that it will be easy to locate the Harmony Express if you've misplaced it by triggering a tone on the remote. It is now available for purchase in the U.S. via Amazon and Logitech's online storefront from $250. The device will also be up for grabs from Best Buy stores and online shop in the future.
