Lyft is expanding its car rental service in the U.S. in partnership with SIXT

Lyft has teamed up with SIXT to expand its car rental service across the U.S. Lyft Rentals was first introduced in December 2019, although at the time it was available only in the Bay Area and Los Angeles.

The expansion will bring the car rental service to users in Seattle, Las Vegas, and Miami beginning in August. Users will then be able to rent a vehicle through the Lyft app's rental tab. SIXT's fleet of vehicles will include disinfectants upon pickup as part of its hygiene measures.

When making a reservation, customers will have the option to choose the specific car they want to rent by picking the exact make and model of the vehicle within thirty minutes prior to pickup. There will be plenty of cars from Lyft and SIXT available on the Rentals tab and customers will need to specify their reservation date, location, and insurance coverage. This will make it faster for customers to pick up their chosen car when they arrive on SIXT's rental lot.

Once your trip is over, Lyft will provide a $10 credit to help you return home after dropping off the rented car back to SIXT's rental lot. The ride-sharing company also plans to roll out the service to all cities in the U.S. covered by the SIXT rental network in the coming months.
