Mass Effect 3 PC patch released; consoles get patched today

BioWare has released a new patch for Mass Effect 3 for the PC which fixes a number of issues in the RPG. Xbox 360 and PS3 patches are scheduled for release today.

While Mass Effect 3 may be getting its first free DLC pack later today, PC owners of BioWare's sci-fi RPG can already download a new patch for the game. The Xbox 360 and PS3 patches are due to be released sometime today.

BioWare has already posted up a change log for the new patch, which mainly addresses a number of bug fixes. The biggest one is that people who created custom faces for Commander Shepard in Mass Effect 1 and 2 were getting some errors when they transferred their character to Mass Effect 3. This new patch deals with that issue.

As we previously reported, the first DLC pack for Mass Effect 3, the Resurgence Pack, will be released later today for all the game's platforms. The free download adds two new maps, six unlockable characters, three new weapons and four new consumables to the game. It will likely be the first of many such DLC drops for BioWare's title.

Of course, the DLC that many Mass Effect 3 fans have been waiting on isn't due until sometime this summer. The Extended Cut DLC will offer up some new cinematics that BioWare says will expand and clarify the events surrounding the game's controversial ending.
