Meta is bringing this adults-only Facebook feature back from the dead

Meta has announced that it's bringing back a feature it discontinued in 2022/2023, once again targeting young adults.

Meta has announced that it is bringing Facebook's Jobs feature back, creating a new way for young adults to "find local entry-level job opportunities" on the platform.

You might remember that back in 2017, the original "Jobs on Facebook" launched as a direct shot at LinkedIn, which had been acquired by Microsoft for $26.2 billion just a few months prior. A job listing could be shown in the news feed, a dedicated "Jobs" section, and the Facebook Marketplace.

Job seekers could use their profile as a resume to apply quickly. On the other hand, businesses could post openings for free, but could also pay to promote their listings through paid advertising to reach more people.

The feature was eventually phased out internationally in February 2022, and its removal extended to the US and Canada the following year. Now that the feature is making its way back, the company says job listings will appear in Groups and Pages and also within the Marketplace, according to Meta.

To find a job on the Facebook Marketplace, you must first tap "Menu" and then select "Marketplace". From there, you can browse a feed of recommended jobs or see all listings in your area.

If you find something you like, you can apply directly by contacting the employer through Messenger or, if the position is listed by a third-party partner, by tapping a link that redirects you to the partner's website.

Meta says that the feature is intended for users over 18 years old. The company will also personalize the experience by showing you "relevant opportunities based on your job browsing history."

There are jobs not allowed to be listed on the platform. The company's policies prohibit any listings that discriminate based on protected characteristics, including race, age, and religion.

In addition to that, you will not find postings for anything related to illegal products or services, including recreational drugs, as well as multi-level marketing schemes. Facebook also forbids posts that solicit personal financial information from applicants or contain profanity.
