Microsoft Advertising to open new San Francisco studio

Microsoft Advertising has just announced plans to launch the first of what it hopes will be several new offices around the world.

In a post on the Microsoft Advertising blog, it revealed it will open Solution Studio 415 in San Francisco. The office will launch sometime in early December and the blog says the goal of the new operation is to " ... bring together Microsoft design-led thinkers and technologists to co-create innovative solutions in partnership with our customers."

The blog adds:

Our ultimate goal is to bring the same kind of design-led thinking that birthed the Kinect and Arc Touch Mouse to the table, to help marketers engage in rich and relevant ways with their customers, and solve some of the toughest marketing challenges along the way.

There's no word on how many people will be hired for Solution Studio 415. Microsoft does say that it has started talks with a "number of top brands in retail, consumer packaged goods and automobile manufactures" to partner with in this new venture, but specific names were not announced.

While this new studio is under the Microsoft Advertising division, the blog states that Solution Studio 415 is not intended to be a full fledged ad or marketing agency, saying, "Again, we are a design & technology delivery vehicle to channel Microsoft innovation on solving marketers’ problems."
