Microsoft announces general availability of new Power Apps and Dataverse for Teams

Online collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams have become more important than ever in the ongoing pandemic. To that end, the Redmond tech giant has been consistently releasing updates to its product to encourage wider adoption across enterprises.

Now, it has announced the general availability of new Power Apps and Power Virtual Agents apps, along with Microsoft Dataverse for Teams.

First up is the new Power Apps app for Microsoft Teams which allows users to build custom low-code apps directly within Teams. This can be done via the built-in app studio, which also allows you to deploy apps to everyone in your organization after publication to the Teams app store. Microsoft says that these apps will be natively responsive across various form factors so you won't have to put in any manual effort to cater to various device types.

Similarly, the general availability of Power Virtual Agents in Teams allows development of custom chatbots with little code. A bot studio has been offered that features a GUI that you can utilize to build chatbots for various purposes, such as an IT helpdesk and self-service.

Lastly, Dataverse for Teams has also hit general availability. The company says that:

Dataverse for Teams provides a subset of the full Microsoft Dataverse (formerly known as CDS) capabilities but more than enough to get started building apps and bots for your organizations. Dataverse for Teams also improves application lifecycle management, allowing customers seamless upgrades to more robust offerings when their apps and data outgrow what comes with their Office 365 or Microsoft 365 licenses.

If you are interested in finding out more about Dataverse for Teams, Microsoft has detailed various components of the data platform here as well.
