Microsoft brings Copilot Cowork to iOS and Android, adds Skills and plugins

Copilot Cowork's latest update introduces mobile support for iOS and Android, allowing users to manage background tasks remotely.
Copilot Cowork

Back in March, Microsoft first revealed Copilot Cowork in Research Preview, a new agentic AI experience through which users can assign tasks to AI to complete in the background. Additionally, users can initiate multiple tasks simultaneously and manage task progress via a new dashboard. Later, Microsoft expanded the availability of Copilot Cowork to the Frontier program for Microsoft 365 customers.

Today, Microsoft is expanding Copilot Cowork with mobile support, reusable Skills, and deeper integrations across Microsoft 365 and third-party business tools. Since Cowork runs in the cloud, users do not need to keep their laptops open or their PCs running while work is being completed. With the new mobile support, users can assign tasks while commuting, between meetings, or away from their desks. Copilot Cowork on mobile is supported on both iOS and Android devices.

Microsoft is also introducing Cowork Skills to make repeated workflows easier. A Skill is a reusable set of instructions that tells Cowork how to complete a task or workflow. Users can define the structure, tone, and process they want Cowork to follow, and then reuse those instructions instead of starting from scratch each time.

To make it easier for users to get started, Microsoft is adding built-in Skills across Microsoft 365 for common workflows such as creating documents, coordinating meetings, and conducting research. Enterprises can also create custom Skills to standardize team processes or automate recurring work.

Microsoft is also expanding Cowork plugins to help it work across systems even outside of Microsoft 365. New native integrations are coming to Fabric IQ with Power BI, as well as Dynamics 365 integrations across sales, customer service, and ERP applications.

In the coming weeks, Microsoft will also release connectors for third-party services including LSEG, Miro, monday.com, and S&P Global Energy. Enterprises can also create custom plugins for their own systems and internal processes.

Customers part of Microsoft’s Frontier program can now try out Copilot Cowork, and the above new features are rolling out continuously.
