Microsoft confirms it's "working on" the next version of its Band wearable device

It's been almost nine months since Microsoft unveiled the Band, its health- and fitness-focused wearable device. Since then, the company has rolled out regular updates, adding features such as guided workouts, cycling support and new health insights.

In May, a report stated that Microsoft was developing a successor to the device, and claimed that it might even be unveiled in June. Clearly, that report was wide of the mark, but today, the company confirmed that a new version of the Band is in development.

However, as Windows Central reports, Microsoft's chief operating officer Kevin Turner didn't elaborate beyond saying "we're working on it", so unfortunately, we don't yet know what changes the company has in store for its second-gen model.

Nonetheless, it's good to have confirmation that a new version is on the way, particularly given the extent of recent cuts at Microsoft.
