Microsoft is simplifying its Copilot offerings with reduced prices

It's no secret that Microsoft wants Copilot to be involved in every aspect of your personal and professional life. The company recently even started giving away Microsoft 365 Personal subscriptions with Copilot bundled to all U.S. students for one year, free of cost. Now, it is looking to simplify its Copilot-related offerings with some pricing changes.

In a blog post, Microsoft has shared some plans around repositioning its Copilot solutions for finance, service, and sales teams. Up until now, the Redmond tech firm offered these dedicated Copilots as $20/month add-ons to the Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription, which itself costs $30/month, bringing the total cost of the bundle to $50/month, which is very expensive for many businesses. However, a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed to Directions on Microsoft that this is set to change soon:

The role-based solutions previously known as Copilot for Sales, Service, and Finance will be available for all Microsoft 365 Copilot customers, at no additional cost, starting mid-October. There will be no changes to functionality for existing role-based Copilot customers.

These "role-based" solutions will become available to customers through the Microsoft 365 Copilot Agent Store starting next month, which means that they won't need to pay the additional $20/user/month.

Microsoft believes that its dedicated Copilot solutions will greatly benefit "frontier firms", a new category of companies whose business revolves around AI. Such organizations can leverage the sales solution to drive their revenue engine with agility by having sellers prepare for customer meetings through Copilot and gain benefits from AI-generated insights and plans. Meanwhile, the service solution can assist customer service teams in preparing case summaries, communicating with clients, draft emails, and update records.

Finally, the finance solution aids in financial reconciliation, preparation of reports, highlighting anomalies, and preparing reports for business leaders. It also connects to enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems like Dynamics 365 and SAP. All three of these solutions should be available in the dedicated Microsoft 365 Copilot Agent Store next month.
