Microsoft still dealing with Outlook.com issues with syncing email with mobile devices

Microsoft's status page shows that the company is still dealing with an issue on its Outlook.com service that is keeping some users from syncing their emails with mobile devices.

On Wednesday, some users of Outlook.com experienced issues viewing emails on the web-based service. At the same time, Microsoft said its People and SkyDrive features were also dealing with technical difficulties. The issues lasted for a few hours but Microsoft fixed most of those problems later on Wednesday.

However, the company's status page is currently showing that some Outlook.com users could still have a problem with syncing emails found on the service to their mobile devices. The status page says, "Fixing the problem is taking longer than we hoped," but offers no information on the reason for why it is taking so long to fix.

The status page says that Microsoft will provide an update on their progress at 1 p.m. PST today and apologized for the "lengthy interruption." This problem does not actually affect viewing emails on a Outlook.com web account, however, so there's no need to worry about any emails being lost.

While Outlook.com has had technical issues in the past, including one period that briefly kept users from signing into the service a couple of weeks ago, this new problem has lasted much longer than any other that Microsoft has had to deal with in Outlook.com's short history.
