Microsoft's Family Safety app is now available in preview

In March, Microsoft announced the rebranding of consumer Office 365 subscriptions to Microsoft 365, and along with that, it introduced a couple of new apps. One of them is Family Safety, which lets families manage how they interact with their phones and other devices. Last week, the company began taking sign-ups for the public preview of the app, and now, it's rolling out to those that joined the preview.

The app offers a number of features to promote a healthier lifestyle, such as the ability to set screen time limits for certain apps, or keep track of how much time is being spent on each app and each device the user has access to. Similarly, parents can restrict certain apps, games, and websites from being accessed, be it due to age restrictions or other concerns. Parents can also set up weekly activity reports to see how time is being spent by family members.

Another feature is location sharing, and just as you'd expect,it lets you see the location of all the family members. It's also possible to save locations with specific names so as to know where people are at a given time.

As mentioned before, the preview has limited availability, up to a maximum of 10,000 users on both Android and iOS. If you're interested, you'll need to sign up for it here.
