Next-gen Call of Duty in the works?

Job listing on Infinity Ward's site shows next-generation console development is already underway.

Though it is assumed most major game studios have already begun development for the next generation of consoles, only a few have explicitly said so. Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward now joins those ranks, thanks to a job listing on its official Web site. Though vague about exact positions, the listing does say the Activision-owned studio is "looking for seasoned next-generation console engineers to join its ranks to meet the challenge and expectations for these high-end development platforms." No specific platforms--PlayStation 3, Xbox Next, etc.--were mentioned in Infinity Ward's job listing.

The listing also didn't say what title those hired would be working on. However, given the success of Call of Duty, Infinity Ward's only game to date, and the anticipation surrounding its console version, Call of Duty: Finest Hour, the continuation of the WWII-shooter franchise on next-gen platforms is all but assured. Also of note is the fact that that Infinity Ward has farmed out current-generation development of the Call of Duty franchise to Gray Matter Studios (the Call of Duty: United Offensive expansion pack for PC) and Spark Unlimited (Call of Duty: Finest Hour for Xbox, PlayStation 2, and GameCube).
