Persona 4 Golden is out now on Steam, with enhancements in tow

Confirming previous reports, the award-winning Atlus RPG Persona 4 Golden has launched on Steam. The PlayStation 2 and Vita game has been enhanced to run on full HD resolutions, and more.

Sega and Atlus announced today during the PC Gaming Show 2020 event that the hit RPG Persona 4 Golden is now available on Steam, confirming reports from earlier this week. The long-running Japanese series has been a PlayStation platform exclusive since 1999.

As expected, the PC version comes with some platform-specific enhancements over the original release, including variable framerates, high-resolution gameplay going up to 4K, as well as Steam achievements and Trading Cards. Players can also switch between the Japanese and English voice-overs.

Persona 4 originally released in 2008 for the PlayStation 2, garnering critical acclaim, which was then followed up by an enhanced Persona 4 Golden edition for the PlayStation Vita platform in 2012. For those uninitiated, here's the game setting description straight from the developer's new Steam store page:

Inabaβ€”a quiet town in rural Japan sets the scene for budding adolescence in Persona 4 Golden.

A coming of age story that sets the protagonist and his friends on a journey kickstarted by a chain of serial murders. Explore meeting kindred spirits, feelings of belonging, and even confronting the darker sides of one’s self. Persona 4 Golden promises meaningful bonds and experiences shared together with friends.

Persona 4 Golden comes in at $19.99 on Steam. There is also a Digital Deluxe Edition that adds on a digital artbook and soundtrack to the offer, bumping the price up to $24.99.
