Possible Surface Pro 8 with Tiger Lake processors sold on eBay

It seems as though someone is selling a Surface Pro 8 engineering model on eBay, as spotted by Windows Latest. The seller claims that this is an engineering model and that it comes with an Intel Core i7-1165G7, 32GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD. It's already been sold for $1,300, a crazy low price for any Surface Pro with those kinds of specs.

To be clear, nothing about those specs is surprising, and there's no reason to believe that this isn't a legitimate engineering sample of the Surface Pro 8. The seller is even based right where you'd expect, Seattle. This unit has Intel's 11th-generation processors, which is what one would logically expect to see in the Pro 8, and it has 32GB RAM while the Pro 7 only offered up to 16GB. The ability to go up to 32GB RAM recently debuted with the Surface Book 3, so it's no surprise to see the option in the Pro 8.

That doesn't mean that this is the Surface Pro 8 though, which may be good news for anyone that's disappointed that this looks exactly like a Surface Pro 7, a design that has changed very little since 2014's Surface Pro 3. Many have been waiting to see the bezels slimmed down, possibly making way for a larger screen. In fact, this is exactly what we've seen from the Surface Pro X.

It would seem that if Microsoft does plan to update the design at some point, it's not with the Surface Pro 8, or at least that wasn't the plan when this engineering sample was made. This unit still has the same three ports: Surface Connect, USB Type-A, and USB Type-C.

The Surface Pro 6 and Surface Pro 7 were both launched at October events, a year apart; however, this year's October event didn't have a new Intel-powered Surface Pro. In fact, the same story could be said for the Surface Laptop. It's unclear whether Microsoft is holding back for a spring event or if it's planning to wait until October of next year, but if the Surface Pro 8 was ready to go now, you can probably bet that it would have been announced last month.
