Samsung announces The Terrace, an outdoor 4K QLED TV

Samsung has announced The Terrace, an outdoor 4K QLED TV, and an accompanying soundbar. The new TV is launching in the United States and Canada today and will arrive in Germany, Australia, New Zealand, and other regions later in the year. A professional business model will also be launching in the summer.

The Terrace is available in 55-, 65-, and 75-inch models. According to the Korean firm, The Terrace is designed to fit perfectly in outdoor living spaces. If you’re wondering how it copes in the rain, Samsung has built it to be resistant against water and dust and it has an IP55 rating. Samsung has also designed the device to be easily installable in outdoor areas.

Commenting on the new products, Jonghee Han, President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said:

“Today, new lifestyle habits and trends are evolving faster than ever before. Consumers are using screens to work from home, exercise using online platform, stay in touch with loved ones, and engage with many other activities. Screen should also be evolving in line with these lifestyle changes. With the introduction of The Terrace, we are thrilled to transcend the connected living room experience to the outdoors by delivering on engineering feats and content experiences that only Samsung can achieve.”

In terms of features, The Terrace comes with Samsung’s Tizen operating system which has been optimised for smart TVs. The new device includes popular features such as Samsung TV Plus and Samsung Health. Additionally, The Terrace supports mobile viewing capabilities such as Multi View and Tap View as well as voice assistants such as Bixby, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant.

The Terrace can now be purchased online from Samsung if you’re in the U.S. or Canada. It retails from $4,999.99 for the 65" model and can be paid for in instalments using Samsung Financing. The soundbar retails for $1,199.99.
