Samsung mobile chief confirms Galaxy Note8 will be unveiled in August; on sale in September

DJ Koh, the head of Samsung's mobile division, has confirmed that the company's new Galaxy Note8 will officially debut towards the end of August, and will go on sale in key markets in early September.
The ill-fated Galaxy Note7, whose replacement will be unveiled next month

Last week, a report cited a Samsung executive as saying that the Galaxy Note8 will make its official debut next month, at an event in New York City. Now, Samsung's mobile chief, DJ Koh, has confirmed to Taiwanese media that the new stylus-toting handset will indeed be announced towards the end of August, before going on sale in key markets a few weeks later.

Koh said that the Galaxy Note8 will launch in the first wave of markets in early September, and will become more widely available in other parts of the world from October. He did not reveal exactly which markets will be first to get the new handset, but it seems likely that the United States, the UK, and South Korea will be among them.

Last month, Samsung launched the Galaxy Note Fan Edition in its home market. The Galaxy Note FE is a refurbished edition of the company's ill-fated Galaxy Note7, and is reportedly selling rather well.
