Smiling Gator closes shop, Twilight War canned

Smiling Gator Productions announced Tuesday that the Source engine based MMO Twilight War that they had been creating for the past 17 months was now cancelled, and the studio itself was shutting down. Apparently even up until the 31st of December, they had been trying to secure more funding to continue forward but were unable to. All other investors have apparently bowed out, and that left SGP no choice but to shut down operations and stop development on Twilight War. Here is the single news post from the SGP website dated Jan. 3rd 2006:

It's not a Happy New Year here at Smiling Gator Productions.

Unfortunately, the end of 2005 is also the end of SGP. Our committed funds have run dry and we were not successful in the hunt for additional investment. The websites and email will be disabled in the coming days, so this is our last announcement before we shut down for good. Thanks again to our fantastic forums community for all the support and contributions! We hope you find another project and give them the devotion and incisive comments we've enjoyed reading for the past 17 months.

For those who are interested, the Twilight War community will continue on
