Some YouTube Red subscribers reported to be getting a free Chromecast

Select subscribers of Google's ad-free streaming service, YouTube Red, are being offered a free Chromecast and the eligibility criteria seems to be random at the moment.

It hasn't been long since Google launched YouTube Red and the company is already rewarding its subscriber base with a free Chromecast that can be claimed until the 19th of June. The full text of the email that is being sent to the users is as follows:

Thanks for being a part of YouTube Red

Here’s a gift we hope you’ll love. Now through June 19, 2016, claim your very own Chromecast from YouTube Red. It’s on us! No strings attached, just a little treat for being one of the first people to join the party.

With Chromecast, you get a bigger picture. Simply plug it in and stream any YouTube song or video directly from your phone, tablet, or computer to your TV. We hear YouTube Red members love being able to watch ad-free videos on TV, so we thought we’d help you get started.

Follow these steps to claim your Chromecast before time runs out:

Hit the button above.
In the upper right corner, click “Choose Options.”
Don’t worry. The discount will be applied at checkout.
Choose your color.
Complete the checkout process.

Thanks again for being a YouTube Red member. And happy watching!

The mail mentions that the gesture is for those users who have been part of the initial batch of YouTube Red subscribers, so if you are one of those you should keep an eye on your mailbox.
