Sony confirms Remote Play streaming is coming to Windows and Mac

Plans to release the official PS4 Remote Play streaming app for Windows and Mac are quickly confirmed by a Sony executive after a third party developer unveiled their paid app earlier this week.

Just days after news spread of an unofficial third party PS4-to-PC streaming app named 'Remote Play PC', Sony has confirmed the company is working on its own app. Sony CE's President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, took to Twitter to announce the official Remote Play app and that streaming will also extend to Macs.

Yoshida did not discuss when the new feature will be available or how it will work.

Remote Play streaming has been around for some time, dating back to the Playstation 3. However until now Sony restricted streaming to other Sony-made devices, including the PS Vita, Xperia phones and last year's Playstation TV.

With Remote Play for PC and Mac, Sony will finally be catching up to Microsoft. Xbox One owners are currently able to stream games to their Windows 10 PCs with settings up to 1080p/60FPS.
