Sony kicks off registration for PlayStation 5 pre-orders, but you may not have it

Sony today opened registrations for a chance to pre-order the PlayStation 5. The registration page has gone live two months after the next-generation PlayStation gaming console debuted.

The pre-order opportunity is invite-only, however, and the quantity of PS5 consoles available for pre-order will be limited. With that in mind, Sony is inviting some of its existing consumers to be among the first to pre-order the PS5 "based on previous interests and PlayStation activities".

Reservations are also on a first-come, first-serve basis. As per Sony's FAQ page for PS5 pre-orders, signing up for the reservation does not guarantee a slot to be able to pre-order the console, even if you receive an invitation. Each invitation will be open for a limited time and pre-order quantities will be limited per PSN ID per transaction. That means Sony is limiting pre-order reservations to one per PSN ID.

You will know if you've been selected only if the company sends you an email, which will include the expiration date and time of your pre-order reservation. If you've received an invitation, you will have the opportunity to buy the following:

  • 1 PS5 Console or 1 PS5 Digital Edition
  • 2 DualSense wireless controllers
  • 2 DualSense charging stations
  • 2 Pulse 3D wireless headsets
  • 2 Media remotes
  • 2 HD Cameras

Keep in mind as well that you will need a U.S. address where the console can be shipped to. Otherwise, your order will be canceled. Click here to register.
