Sony rolls out Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to more Xperia devices

Sony only began upgrading its handsets to Marshmallow a few weeks ago - almost five months after Google originally released the latest version of its OS - but now that the rollout is underway, it's wasting little time in making the upgrade available to more of its devices.

Earlier this month, it released Android 6.0.1 to some of its Xperia Z2, Z3 and Z3 Compact handsets. Now, as XperiaBlog reports, it's expanding availability to more variants of those devices, along with the Xperia Z2 Tablet. The list below shows the specific model numbers of those devices which are now eligible to upgrade (those shown in bold are the latest additions):

  • Xperia Z3 – D6603, D6646, D6653

  • Xperia Z3 Dual – D6633

  • Xperia Z3 Compact – D5803, D5833

  • Xperia Z2 – D6502, D6503

  • Xperia Z2 Tablet – SGP511, SGP512, SGP521

The update will bump up the software build number to 23.5.A.0.570. You can find out more about Sony's Marshmallow update in the video below:
