The Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced announced for next-gen consoles

While die-hard fans of The Elder Scrolls franchise wait impatiently for the sixth main instalment in the franchise, Bethesda and ZeniMax have announced yet another version of Elder Scrolls Online. Today saw the reveal of a next-gen port of the MMORPG title for Sony and Microsoft's consoles.

The online world of Elder Scrolls is slated to get a major update including a new chapter called Blackwood on June 8, 2021. Along with the new story and Update 30, an enhanced version of the open-world title will also launch on the same day.

Titled Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S variant of the wildly popular RPG franchise will feature improved graphics and game performance. The Console Enhanced edition will also be available to previous-gen owners of the game free of charge as an upgrade.

A comprehensive set of the next-gen improvements detailed on the announcing blog post on the game's website are listed below:

  • 60fps
  • Increased draw distance
  • Unlocked textures
  • Updated antialiasing
  • Improved reflections
  • Improved ambient occlusion with Screen Space Global Illumination (SSGI)
  • Improved shadows
  • Improved depth of field
  • Improved loading times
