If everything goes according to the usual plan, Apple will announce the iPhone 12 in September, and the company is running out of secrets to keep. Thanks to EverythingApplePro, Max Weinbach, and Jon Prosser, we know everything there is to know, assuming that the rumors are accurate.
The biggest news that we didn't know comes from EverythingApplePro and Max Weinbach. As we know, there will be four models of the iPhone 12. The Pro and Pro Max will be larger at 6.1 and 6.7 inches, respectively, but what's new is that the Super Retina XDR displays will finally have 120Hz refresh rates. This is something that the iPad Pro has had for a few years, and has become popular in Android smartphones. The two non-Pro models will still be 60Hz.
Other specs are courtesy of Jon Prosser. For the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 and the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max (yes, those are reportedly the names) will have the following:
- 60Hz Super Retina display
- 4GB RAM
- 128GB and 256GB storage tiers
- Dual camera
- Aluminum frame
They'll be priced at $649/$749 and $749/$849 for the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Max, respectively. As for the 6.1- and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, you'll see the following:
- 120Hz Super Retina XDR display
- 6GB RAM
- 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage tiers
- Triple-lens camera with LiDAR, 3x zoom lens
- Stainless steel frame
Pricing isn't changing much, as the iPhone 12 Pro will be priced at $999, $1,099, and $1,299, while the Pro will be priced at $1,099, $1,199, and $1,399. There's also a new blue color, which will replace Midnight Green.
Being that we're only a few months away from the regular announcement timeframe, it's likely that these specs are at least close to accurate. What's not clear is if Apple still plans to hold the event in the second week of September like it usually does, or if things will be delayed a bit thanks to the COVID-19 coronavirus.
